Some
significant Deltoys discoveries have been made recently, namely a
larger-scale version of the cart in (6)
to (14) cast in aluminium with
a horse not seen with the lead models, a box lid for the small lead
cart but without any wording on the label at all, and a small lead cart
with a pair of tinplate wheels not seen on these carts before.
The almost unlimited range of colours found on the small lead carts
suggests that the people employed to paint them were given unrestrained
access to the paint pots! Every model is different in some way,
with a great variety of wheels, although all share the characteristic
step across the middle of the cart floor and with ribbing on the lower
floor section. Some of the cart sides were stepped, while most
were level. Some of the small carts had a small step at the rear
and these are mentioned where they occur.
We are no closer to knowing when or where this manufacturer was
operating, and unfortunately the box gives no clue.
